How the SoccerWize Algorithm Works

The SoccerWize Algorithm combines four different attributes to analyse a match and produce probability-based predictions. Before making a prediction, choose how much importance you want to give to each attribute and make sure you understand when the available match information can be used.

The 4 Attributes

Each attribute looks at a different part of the match. The weight you assign determines how much that attribute contributes to the final prediction.

1

Team Statistics

Uses previous match information from the teams to provide historical performance information relevant to the match.

2

Player Statistics

Uses statistics from the players selected for the match. This attribute can be activated when the lineups are available.

3

Odds Comparison

Compares the current match odds with historical odds from comparable situations. Use this attribute when the match shows the Odds Available message.

4

Motivation

Uses competition and standings information to identify situations where the result of a match can be particularly important to a team.

Weight: You Have 1000 Points

The four attributes share a total of 1000 weight points. You decide how these points are distributed. A higher weight gives an attribute a greater influence on the prediction.

How to use the weight

Enter the weight you want for each attribute. The weights must add up to exactly 1000 before you can request the prediction.

The Remaining box at the top of the prediction page shows how many points you still have available. When the total reaches 1000, Remaining will be 0.

Example Weight Distribution
Total 1000
Team History 400
Player Statistics 250
Odds Comparison 200
Motivation 150
Remaining 0

Odds Comparison and Tolerance

Odds Comparison needs current odds for the match. When you see Odds Available, the current odds can be used by this attribute.

What is Odds Tolerance?

Odds Tolerance controls how close historical odds need to be to the current odds when finding comparable historical situations. A lower tolerance requires a closer match. A higher tolerance allows a wider difference and therefore can include more historical situations.

The available tolerance values are 0 to 5. Choose the value according to how closely you want the historical odds to match the current odds.

Player Statistics and Lineups

Player Statistics depends on knowing which players are expected to take part in the match.

LINEUPS AVAILABLE

About 40 Minutes Before Kick-off

Match lineups are normally available about 40 minutes before kick-off. Once the lineups are available, Player Statistics can use the players selected for the match.

BEFORE LINEUPS

Player Statistics Unavailable

If lineups are not available, Player Statistics cannot be used for that match. The prediction can still use the other available attributes.

When an Attribute Is Unavailable

Not every attribute is necessarily available for every match. For example, odds may not yet be available, or lineups may not yet have been announced.

The important point: when an attribute cannot provide information for a particular prediction, its weight is redistributed among the attributes that are available. You do not need to change your weights because an attribute is temporarily unavailable.

What You Get From the Algorithm

The algorithm produces probability-based information in three prediction areas:

Match Result Home · Draw · Away
Both Teams to Score Yes · No
Over / Under 2.5 Over 2.5 · Under 2.5
